About the event
***THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED***
We apologize for the inconvenience and last minute notice, but our host has to tend to a family medical emergency and will not be able to teach on the originally scheduled date/time of Thursday, Sept 5. We have looked at the next available opening on the SERVE calendar and are able to offer Wednesday, Sept 11 at the same time 2:30, so this event has been updated to reflect that.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
The next date is still scheduled for Thursday, October 3.

More about the "I Can" Monthly Event
The SKILLZ® program is a worldwide scientifically proven program to help children with physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. SKILLZ is exclusive to Yonsei Martial Arts Academy in the metro New Orleans area. We incorporate the 8 SKILLZ in our children's martial arts classes.
(You can learn more about them at www.yonsei.us, on Facebook, on Instagram, and on Google Search.)
What's in it for the kids?
Learning how to set goals and achieve goals:
We have 8 SKILLZ that they will learn this year!
At every event they attend they can earn a SKILLZ tip to put on their white belt that they will wear in the class. (The white belt is included in the $5.00 cost.) At the end of the first class they get to break a board and earn their white belt.
Students who attend 4 events will earn a free "I Can" T-shirt and have the opportunity to help lead the class as senior students.
At the end of the year students will receive a yellow belt with a white stripe for completing all 8 SKILLZ tasks at a graduation.
Learning short vs long term gratification:
At every event attended - an “Awesome Sticker” is awarded for each child doing their best in class and demonstrating the 3 take-aways for each class.
They have 2 options to use those Awesome Stickers:
Option one: Collect enough "Awesome Stickers" in the next 9 months and earn a free pass to either our May Parents Night Out NINJA Nerf Wars Night ($20 value) or 4 free tickets to City Park Putt Putt.
Option two: Use the sticker to play the gumball game for a quarter. If the color they choose is the gumball they obtain, then they win an extra gumball. If it is not the color they choose, but it is the color the instructor chooses, they have to do 5 pushups. We hope they save their stickers.
